Of Gabriel and the Prophets
With head bowed and wings wide, Gabriel bowed to God the Father. As always, it was his custom to spread out his wings and place both hands, one on top of the other, over his heart as he went down to one knee. He loved the comforting love that permeated the Holy throne of God. He loved the golden glassy floor and the intense colors of ruby, emerald, and Jasper encircling His throne. And he loved to hear the song of the four living creatures. Their harmony of voices sang:
“Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty
who was, and is, and is to come.”
Revelation 4:8b
Gabriel lifted his head when he heard the Father call out his name. The Father’s voice was thunderously loving and gentle with ultimate sovereignty.
“Go and take others with you to the third heavens and tell my prophets Moses, Abraham, David, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel, Zechariah, Malachi, and Micah the prophesies of the Messiah are now being fulfilled,” God instructed.
Gabriel stood up in the presence of God in utter delight. God’s plans were perfect and wonderful. He could not contain his worship. He and other angels lifted their wings in a dazzling coordinated dance of flight in Holy worship. Then in perfect timing, they rocketed to greet the prophets of old.
They heralded the prophet Isaiah and the others. Upon hearing the news, Isaiah worshiped God and spoke again the prophesy of the virgin conception:
Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14
Then Moses, Abraham, David and the other prophets gathered with Isaiah, Gabriel and the other angels and worshiped God. And they spoke again the words God had given them long ago.

The deep voice of Abraham boomed across the heavens, “God has spoken and promised a Holy seed, and an earthly lineage:
“I will bless you and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.
In your seed all nations of the earth shall be blessed because you obeyed My voice.
Genesis 22:17-18

“Yes,” David agreed and danced in worship as he recalled the words of the Lord:
The Lord has sworn in Truth to David;
He will not turn from it:
I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body.
Psalm 132:11
There were many more prophecies of the Messiah they knew were yet to come to pass. Still, they were overjoyed the time had come to set in place the Salvation granted, as a gift, unto mankind.
The Prophets and others had announced this miraculous Love from God to the world over generations of time. They had spoken and written as God told them. And now, they sat in wonder of The Almighty who loves His image bearers beyond their veiled understanding.

Moses walked through the crowd to where Gabriel was and asked “Who is the Lord’s chosen to carry His son?”
Gabriel answered, “She is but a wisp of a fifteen-year-old girl as men would see her, but she is a mighty warrior as God sees her.”
“Ah! Just like our Lord. He always sees the heart and the potential,” responded Moses. “How did she take the news you gave her?”
Gabriel smiled and said, “like an angel!”
Both men and angels laughed.
Moses then asked, “and how about her betrothed? What was his reaction?”
Gabriel said, “He was in great distress and at first did not comprehend the truth. But God told me to appear to him in a dream to let him know what is conceived in Mary is of the Holy Spirit. From that time, he believed.”
Moses sat in contemplative thought for a moment and then said, “you have been very busy Gabriel.”
“If you only knew, Moses, how very busy mankind always keeps us,” Gabriel responded.
“Yes, I imagine so, my friend.”
Dear reader:,This is how I imagine the Christmas Story to take place in heaven. I do not claim to be any sort of scholar on heaven or angels, nor do I claim that God actually said anything other that what is biblically cited.
Thank you for reading my Christmas Story. I hope you will keep coming back to read each chapter. Please leave a comment or a “Like.” A couple more chapters to come!
